COURSE CURRICULUM

The Accounting and Finance BSc (Hons) programme provides students with a comprehensive education in accounting, finance and business, preparing them for professional careers in financial services, corporate finance and accountancy. During the first year, students build a strong foundation through modules covering financial accounting, management accounting, economics, business law, quantitative techniques, sustainability and professional development. They learn how to analyse and present financial information, apply accounting concepts using modern information technology and develop effective communication skills for interacting with financial stakeholders. The programme also introduces students to the importance of business sustainability and responsible financial decision-making while strengthening academic and professional capabilities. In the second year, students develop more advanced knowledge in financial accounting and reporting, management accounting, corporate finance and data analytics, gaining expertise in financial statement preparation, decision-making techniques and business performance evaluation. A range of optional modules allows students to tailor their studies to career interests through areas such as taxation, audit and assurance, forensic accounting, financial economics, investment instruments, quantitative finance and applied machine learning. These options provide opportunities to develop specialist knowledge in both traditional and emerging areas of finance and technology. In the final year, students focus on strategic and advanced topics including corporate sustainability and governance, where they examine environmental, social and governance factors and their impact on ethical and responsible business operations. Additional optional modules enable further specialisation in advanced financial management, reporting, auditing, taxation, portfolio management, derivatives, artificial intelligence in finance and business strategy. Students can also complete an Accounting and Finance Capstone Project, allowing them to apply their knowledge to complex business and financial challenges. Throughout the programme, there is a strong emphasis on analytical thinking, ethical awareness, professional skills and practical application, ensuring graduates are well prepared for careers in accounting, banking, investment, financial management and consultancy, as well as progression towards recognised professional accounting qualifications.
