COURSE CURRICULUM

The Accounting and Business Management programme provides students with a strong foundation in accounting, finance and business management while developing the analytical, technical and professional skills required for modern organisations. In the first stage of study, students explore the fundamentals of accounting and finance, financial accounting, management accounting, economics, business law and sustainability, while also developing quantitative analysis, data management and professional communication skills. The programme introduces the use of information technology in accounting and finance, enabling students to analyse quantitative information and communicate effectively with stakeholders. Students also undertake academic, personal and professional development activities that prepare them for future careers and further study. In the second stage, the course develops knowledge in decision making, data analytics and visualisation, and organisational performance management, while offering opportunities to specialise through optional modules such as corporate finance, taxation, audit and assurance, forensic accounting, digital marketing and entrepreneurship. Students strengthen their understanding of financial reporting standards, financial statement analysis and business operations while gaining practical experience in applying accounting principles to real-world scenarios. The final stage of the programme focuses on advanced and strategic topics including financial management, audit and assurance, taxation and a substantial accounting and finance capstone project that allows students to apply their knowledge to complex business problems. Students also explore wider business issues through modules covering political economy, sustainability, global leadership, people management and strategic marketing. Particular emphasis is placed on environmental, social and governance principles, ethical business conduct, accountability and sustainable value creation, ensuring graduates understand the responsibilities of modern organisations within society. Throughout the programme, students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork and leadership abilities while gaining practical experience that prepares them for careers in accounting, finance, management, consultancy and related business professions, as well as further professional qualifications and postgraduate study opportunities.
