COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Sports Management degree is a three-year undergraduate programme designed to develop students’ knowledge and skills for careers in the rapidly growing global sports industry. The course combines business management principles with specialist sports topics, helping students understand how sports organisations operate, manage events, develop commercial opportunities, and address challenges within professional sport. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through modules such as The Global Business Environment, Sports Management, Managing Finance, Marketing Principles, Academic and Professional Development, Live Management Enquiry Project, and Introduction to Sport Sociology and Ethics. These modules introduce essential areas including sports administration, financial management, marketing strategies, leadership, ethics, and social issues affecting sport. The second year focuses on professional sports operations and industry practices through modules such as Professional Sports Business, Sports Governance, Ethics and Law, Managing Sports Events, Managing Projects to Achieve Results, Applied Management Skills, and Digital Marketing Fundamentals. Students develop practical abilities in event planning, sports venue management, project delivery, stakeholder relationships, legal regulations, and digital promotion. In the final year, students explore advanced strategic concepts through modules including Strategic Sports Management, Management Consultancy, Sustainability and Globally Responsible Leadership, Event Design and Production, Strategic Marketing, and the Capstone Business Project. The programme encourages independent research, critical thinking, problem-solving, and the ability to apply academic knowledge to real-world sports challenges. Students also gain valuable experience through industry engagement, professional placements, live projects, and interactions with sports practitioners.
