COURSE CURRICULUM

The Human Resource Management programme combines business management, leadership, and specialist people management knowledge to prepare students for careers in modern organisations and human resource professions. In the first stage of study, students complete modules including The Global Business Environment, Academic, Personal and Professional Development, Enterprise and Innovation, Managing Finance, Leadership and Management in an Organisational Context, Live Management Enquiry Project, Business and the Legal System, and Marketing Principles. These modules introduce students to organisations as open systems operating within complex stakeholder environments while developing knowledge of finance, management, marketing, entrepreneurship, and legal frameworks that influence business operations. Students also build communication, teamwork, and professional skills through projects and presentations. In the second stage, students undertake modules including Accounting for Finance and Decision Makers, Employability and Entrepreneurship, Creating and Delivering Operational Plans, Managing Projects to Achieve Results, Professional and Ethical People Practice, Data Insights to Shape People Practices, Courage and Influence in a Changing Digital Workplace, and Digital Marketing Fundamentals. These modules focus on developing the financial, operational, and analytical skills needed for effective management while introducing specialist human resource topics such as ethical people practices, workforce analytics, and leadership within increasingly digital organisations. Students learn how to make informed management decisions, manage organisational performance, and communicate effectively with stakeholders and finance professionals. In the final stage, students study Sustainability and Globally Responsible Leadership, Strategic Business and Management, Strategic Management of People and Change, Leadership and Management in Global Contexts, Capstone Business Project, Managing Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion, and Strategic Marketing. Particular emphasis is placed on sustainability, global leadership, stakeholder responsibility, organisational change, and inclusive workplace cultures. Students critically examine the role of organisations within society and develop strategies to support sustainable business practices and responsible leadership. Overall, the programme prepares graduates for careers in human resources, business management, organisational development, consultancy, and leadership while supporting progression towards professional qualifications and management roles across a wide range of industries.
