COURSE CURRICULUM

The Events Management programme combines business management knowledge with specialist expertise in the planning, delivery, and strategic management of professional events and the meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions sector. In the first stage of study, students complete core modules including The Global Business Environment, Academic, Personal and Professional Development, Enterprise and Innovation, Managing Finance, Leadership and Management in an Organisational Context, Live Management Enquiry Project, Business and the Legal System, and Marketing Principles. These modules introduce students to organisations as open systems operating within complex stakeholder environments while developing knowledge of finance, leadership, marketing, entrepreneurship, and business law. Students also strengthen communication, teamwork, and professional skills through projects and presentations that mirror real business situations. In the second stage, students study Accounting for Finance and Decision Makers, Employability and Entrepreneurship, Creating and Delivering Operational Plans, Managing Projects to Achieve Results, Applied Management Skills, Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions, Operational Business Events Management, and Digital Marketing Fundamentals. These modules focus on financial management, operational planning, project delivery, and business decision making while developing specialist expertise in event logistics, event operations, stakeholder engagement, and the management of professional events within local and international contexts. Students learn how to organise and manage successful business events while understanding the financial and operational challenges involved in delivering memorable experiences. In the final stage, students undertake advanced modules including Sustainability and Globally Responsible Leadership, Strategic Business and Management, Strategic Management of People and Change, Leadership and Management in Global Contexts, Capstone Business Project, Strategic Professional Conference Organisation, and Strategic Marketing. Particular emphasis is placed on sustainable event practices, responsible leadership, strategic planning, organisational change, and the management of large-scale conferences and professional events. Through independent projects and applied learning, students develop leadership, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities required for the modern events industry. Overall, the programme prepares graduates for careers in events management, conference planning, exhibitions, hospitality, marketing, business development, and entrepreneurship, including opportunities to establish their own events businesses.
