COURSE CURRICULUM

The architecture programme provides students with a comprehensive education that combines creative design practice, critical thinking and professional knowledge across architectural theory, technology and urban design. In the first stage of study, students explore the historical, cultural and theoretical foundations of architecture through modules such as Contextual Origins, which examines the influence of cultural, economic, environmental, political and technological factors on architecture, art and urban development. Communication Strategies develops visual, verbal and digital communication skills essential for presenting architectural ideas, while Sustainable Tectonics introduces environmentally responsible construction principles and sustainable design approaches. Studio-based learning through Micro Studio and Meso Studio enables students to apply their knowledge in practical design projects and develop their creative and technical abilities. In the second stage, students deepen their understanding of architecture within wider urban contexts through modules including Urban Dialogues, which investigates cities as complex and evolving systems shaped by social, environmental and technological influences. Digital Strategies develops expertise in digital design tools and emerging technologies, while Exploring Tectonics strengthens understanding of materials, structures and construction methods. Habitat Studio and Urban Studio provide opportunities to tackle increasingly complex design challenges and develop innovative architectural solutions for communities and urban environments. In the final stage, students engage with advanced theoretical and professional issues through modules such as Critical Perspectives, Ethics and Praxis and Future Tectonics, which examine ethical responsibilities, professional practice and the future direction of architecture and construction technologies. Design Inquiry and Design Futures encourage independent research and experimentation, culminating in an illustrated dissertation and major design project that integrates theory, research and creative practice. Throughout the programme, students develop strong analytical, communication and design skills while gaining the knowledge and professional awareness required for careers in architecture, urban design and related creative industries, preparing them to contribute positively to the future of the built environment.
