COURSE CURRICULUM

This MSc program in Behavioural Science and Policy for Global Development is designed to meet the rising demand for professionals who can integrate behavioural insights with advanced data analysis to shape effective policies. The course provides a robust foundation in behavioural theory, empirical research, and policy design, addressing real-world challenges across diverse sectors such as education, health, finance, agriculture, and governance. Students engage with contemporary examples to critically assess how human behaviour influences policy outcomes. The curriculum begins with essential training in behavioural analysis and policy applications, then progresses to advanced empirical methods, including econometrics and machine learning, with practical workshops using STATA software to strengthen data interpretation skills. A standout component is the flexibility students have in customising their learning through optional modules from within the School of Global Development and across the wider university. Compulsory modules such as Quantitative Methods and Analysis for Global Development and Behavioural Analysis for Policy build essential quantitative and analytical capabilities. Meanwhile, the Research Approaches module prepares students for their dissertation or a professional work placement. This structure allows students to either delve deeply into an academic topic through independent research or apply their skills in a practical, professional context, reinforcing their learning with real-world experience. By the end of the program, graduates are well-prepared to influence policy-making processes in global development, equipped with the analytical tools and behavioural insights necessary to drive impactful change.
