COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc International Business Economics is a structured 12-month program beginning in September with a pre-sessional course that equips students with the mathematical and statistical tools needed for success in the core modules. Each semester features three taught modules, with the summer dedicated to the dissertation. In the autumn, students focus on foundational areas such as microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics, while in the spring, they select from a range of optional modules to specialize in areas of personal or professional interest. The dissertation process starts in spring with preparatory workshops that cover research techniques, data access, referencing, and quantitative analysis, continuing with further training in early summer.The course features several key modules. Econometric Methods introduces students to the core techniques of econometrics and the use of STATA, enabling them to analyze and interpret data and economic relationships. The Multinational Firms module explores the reasons for the existence of global companies, their impact, and associated concerns, using interdisciplinary approaches from different branches of economics. The Dissertation/External Consultancy module allows students to conduct an in-depth study on a topic of their choosing, either independently or in collaboration with a business or organization, with guidance from academic supervisors and training in research methods and data analysis.Other core modules include Economic Concepts, which builds understanding of consumer and producer behavior, market structures, and macroeconomic policies, and International Trade, which examines global trade patterns, benefits and drawbacks of trade, and controversial topics like environmental impact and strategic trade policy. Overall, the program offers a balanced mix of theoretical grounding, empirical training, and practical application, preparing graduates for careers in international economics, consulting, and beyond.
