COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master’s program in Film and Television Production provides students with a comprehensive foundation in media storytelling and production skills. In the first semester, students focus on developing essential technical, logistical, and creative abilities through a series of modules. These include Filmmaking 1, where students learn video production skills and explore cinematic storytelling, and Screenwriting, which teaches the fundamentals of scriptwriting, including structure, character development, and dialogue. The program also introduces students to the critical analysis of screen media through the module Analyzing Screen Media, preparing them for their final dissertation. In the second semester, students refine their skills in filmmaking and media production, with the option to undertake an industry placement for practical experience. Modules like Television Studio Production provide hands-on experience in live television production, while Filmmaking 2 allows students to work in small teams to produce a dramatic film and a commercial, taking on key production roles such as directing, sound, and editing. The capstone of the degree is the Film and Television Production Project, where students conceive and develop a creative project of their choice, applying their knowledge to produce a short film or other media project. This project, supported by individual supervision, gives students the chance to showcase their creative voice and deepen their understanding of media practice. Through these modules, students gain the necessary skills for working in the media industry, from technical expertise to creative and critical thinking, preparing them for careers in filmmaking, television production, or further academic study.
