COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master's program in Education for Development is structured to provide a thorough understanding of education’s role in global development. In the Autumn semester, students will explore foundational theories and practices related to education, focusing on its connections to broader development issues. This includes examining various educational models, inclusive education, and the challenges faced in contexts of poverty, gender inequality, and cultural diversity. In the Spring semester, students will build on this knowledge by exploring educational reform, policy analysis, and development challenges in low-income and fragile states. They will critically engage with policy-making processes and the implementation of education policies in different global contexts. The program also offers flexibility, allowing students to select optional modules from across the School of Global Development and the School of Education and Lifelong Learning. A compulsory module, *Research Approaches for Dissertation or Analytical Report*, helps students develop their research skills in preparation for their dissertations or work placements. Students will also receive support through workshops and seminars to strengthen their academic and professional skills, particularly in areas such as essay and dissertation writing. Key compulsory modules include *Introduction to Education for Development*, which covers theories of education and development, and *Educational Policy and Practice for Development*, which examines policy-making and its impact on educational practices in development contexts. By the end of the program, students will be equipped with the knowledge and research skills necessary to analyze and address educational challenges in global development.
