COURSE CURRICULUM

This course in International Commercial Law provides students with a solid foundation in the essential elements of international commerce law, including the drivers behind the harmonisation of laws in this area. You will explore the institutions involved in the harmonisation process and the scope of their efforts, examining areas where attempts have been made to codify or harmonise the law, such as international sales, trade, and dispute resolution. You will assess the success of these efforts and explore ways in which the harmonisation process can be improved.In addition to the compulsory modules, you will have the opportunity to specialise by selecting from a wide range of optional modules based on your interests. You will also complete a compulsory non-credit-bearing module at the start of your course that focuses on postgraduate legal skills, preparing you for the challenges of the LLM. This module covers important topics such as understanding sources of law, using electronic research resources, and academic writing and presentation skills.A key component of the course is the dissertation, which allows you to delve into an area of international commercial law that interests you. This independent research project helps you develop your research, analytical, and communication skills. With the approval of the Course Director, you may also choose up to 40 credits from other postgraduate courses offered at UEA, allowing you to further tailor the course to your specific academic and professional goals. The course is designed to give you the skills and knowledge needed to navigate the complexities of international commercial law and pursue a successful career in the field.
