COURSE CURRICULUM

The Law degree at UEA is structured over four years, providing a comprehensive and well-rounded legal education. In the first year, you will establish a solid foundation in key legal disciplines, taking compulsory modules such as Constitutional and Administrative Law, English Legal System, Principles of Criminal Law, Contract Law, Law in Practice, and Critical Perspectives on Law. These modules will give you a thorough understanding of the UK's constitutional framework, the legal system, criminal law principles, contract law, and the practical application of law in various sectors. Additionally, the Essential Study Skills module will support your academic development by honing skills in legal research, writing, and problem-solving. In the second year, you will continue to build on this foundation with compulsory modules in EU Law, The Law of Trusts, Land Law, and The Law of Tort. These will deepen your understanding of European Union law, private trusts, property law, and tortious liability. You will also have the opportunity to select two optional modules based on your interests. The Essential Study Skills module will continue to enhance your academic abilities. In the third year, you will have the exciting opportunity to study abroad at one of UEA’s partner law schools in Europe. This experience will allow you to immerse yourself in European and International law, broadening your legal knowledge in a comparative context. Finally, in the fourth year, you will choose from a variety of optional modules, enabling you to specialize in areas of law that interest you the most, while also applying the skills and knowledge you’ve gained throughout your studies. This structure provides a blend of compulsory and elective courses, practical legal training, and international exposure, ensuring you graduate with both a strong legal foundation and the flexibility to tailor your degree to your career aspirations.
