COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year of a law degree, students develop a strong foundation in essential legal concepts and skills. The curriculum includes six compulsory modules, focusing on key areas such as Constitutional and Administrative Law, which covers the UK's political and legal framework, and English Legal System, which introduces students to the institutions and processes of law. Additionally, students study Principles of Criminal Law, providing an overview of criminal offences, and Contract Law, which addresses the formation and validity of contracts. The module Critical Perspectives on Law encourages students to evaluate law beyond a doctrinal perspective, considering its social context. Law in Practice explores how legal professionals apply law in real-life situations, and Essential Study Skills supports academic and career development. In the second year, students continue with fundamental subjects, including EU Law, Trusts, Land Law, and Tort Law, while selecting optional modules to tailor their studies. In the third year, students study abroad at a partner law school in the United States, gaining international exposure. Finally, in the fourth year, students have the flexibility to choose from a broad range of optional modules, allowing them to specialize further and align their studies with their career goals. This progression provides a comprehensive understanding of both the theoretical and practical aspects of law.
