COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year of a law and criminology program, students build a solid foundation in key legal and criminological concepts. The curriculum includes compulsory modules such as Constitutional and Administrative Law, which covers the UK’s political structure, human rights, and judicial review; Principles of Criminal Law, focusing on core criminal principles like homicide and property offences; and Contract Law, which explores the formation and enforcement of contracts. Students also study Law in Practice, introducing them to practical legal applications, Crime and Society, which critically examines crime and justice, and the English Legal System, covering the structure of courts and the sources of law. Additionally, the Essential Study Skills module helps students develop academic and professional skills. In the second year, students continue to study essential subjects, including Criminology, which introduces theoretical perspectives on criminal behavior, and modules on EU Law, Trusts, Land Law, and Tort Law. These courses deepen their understanding of legal concepts and their social implications. Essential Study Skills is also continued in this year. The third year offers greater flexibility, allowing students to select modules that match their specific interests, whether in law or criminology, enabling them to specialize further. This progression ensures that by the end of the program, students are well-equipped with the knowledge, skills, and critical thinking abilities necessary for legal or criminological careers.
