COURSE CURRICULUM

The BEng Engineering program at UEA offers a dynamic, interdisciplinary approach designed to develop creative, adaptable, and industry-ready engineers. In the first year, students are introduced to core engineering principles, covering mechanical, electrical, and energy disciplines through hands-on experimentation and problem-solving. This year also encourages students to address real-world challenges affecting vulnerable communities and sets the stage for specialisation in later years.In the second year, students deepen their mathematical and technical skills through modules in electronics, structural mechanics, and materials, while the Engineering Design Project integrates knowledge from multiple disciplines. With continued emphasis on real-world application, students can prepare for transfer to the MEng pathway or consider a Year in Industry for added professional exposure and experience.The third year is dedicated to a work placement, giving students the opportunity to apply their learning in an industrial setting. This immersive experience strengthens practical skills, enhances employability, and builds valuable industry connections.In the final year, students undertake a major individual project, focusing on their own interests or collaborating with industry to solve current engineering problems. Alongside this, they explore advanced concepts in control systems and digital automation, preparing for roles in fields such as robotics, smart manufacturing, or systems engineering. Overall, the program fosters a blend of technical expertise, innovation, and professional readiness.
