COURSE CURRICULUM

In Year 1, you'll take a core set of modules in the Physical Education, Sport, and Health (PESH) cluster, providing the flexibility to transfer to one of several related courses after completing the year. You'll study foundational topics such as the human body's response to activity, training techniques for fitness and performance, and psychological aspects of exercise. Additionally, you'll explore motor skill development and the principles of learning and teaching, equipping you with the knowledge needed to improve fitness, well-being, and performance. The year also focuses on developing your academic skills and professional identity, preparing you for further studies and a future career in the sector. In Year 2, you’ll dive deeper into sport development and high-performance sport, gaining practical experience through research and a work placement. You'll study the policy landscape of sports development, explore the roles of various organisations, and examine what makes sports systems successful. Year 3 is spent studying abroad at a partner university, where you'll expand your academic knowledge in a global context. Finally, Year 4 allows you to focus on your research project, where you'll collect and analyze data for your dissertation while also taking advanced modules to complement your career goals. By the end of the course, you will have developed the academic, professional, and personal skills necessary for a career in physical education, sport, and health.
