COURSE CURRICULUM

In your first year, you will study a 120-credit module designed to provide a strong foundation in psychological theory and research, with an emphasis on how this knowledge applies in the real world. The module’s teaching sessions are organized around themes such as behavior, social interaction, applications of psychology, and self-understanding. You will also be introduced to various methods of studying psychology, including research skills and critical thinking.In the second year, you will continue with compulsory modules that deepen your understanding of different branches of psychology, including an advanced module on research methods. This year also allows you the flexibility to choose an optional module, either from psychology or another department, depending on your interests. The core modules include Social and Developmental Psychology, which covers topics like social perception, inter-group processes, and developmental psychology; Cognitive and Biological Psychology, where you’ll explore cognitive processes and biological factors influencing behavior; Psychology in Context, which delves into the philosophical and historical aspects of psychology; Experimental Psychological Analysis, focusing on statistical techniques in research; and Assessing and Analyzing Individual Differences, which investigates psychological assessments and theories in areas like intelligence and personality.In your third year, you will have the opportunity to study abroad at one of the university's partner institutions, gaining valuable international experience and a broader perspective on psychology.Your final year will involve a substantial research project, allowing you to apply the skills and knowledge you have gained over the course of your degree. You will be supported by a supervisor, who will guide you in planning and executing your research. Additionally, you will take core and optional modules to specialize further in your areas of interest, including Social Perception and Behavior, which explores social psychology from individuals to groups. This module will help you critically evaluate core topics in social perception and behavior.
