COURSE CURRICULUM

The Physical Education, Sport, and Health (PESH) program offers a comprehensive pathway for students to develop the knowledge and skills needed for a career in physical education, sports development, and health promotion. In Year 1, students are introduced to core concepts such as fitness, exercise psychology, human movement, and skill acquisition. These foundational modules provide a deep understanding of how the body responds to physical activity, the psychological factors influencing sport and exercise, and the principles of effective training for both health and elite performance. Students also begin to form their professional identity in the field, with training in academic and professional skills to help them thrive in higher education.Year 2 expands on these foundations by focusing on research methods and pedagogical principles in physical education. Students engage in practical research and experience modules, gaining hands-on insights into data collection, analysis, and the development of their own research projects. The year also emphasizes policy contexts, with students studying national strategies such as the National Curriculum and the PESSCL initiative, and gaining real-world experience through placements.Year 3 offers an exciting opportunity for students to study abroad at a partner university, broadening their perspectives and enhancing their learning experience in different international contexts. In Year 4, students focus on their dissertation, conducting original research under the guidance of an academic supervisor, while also exploring advanced topics in the psychology of physical education. The program prepares graduates for a variety of careers, equipping them with the practical, research, and professional skills necessary to excel in physical education, sports development, and health-related fields.
