COURSE CURRICULUM

The BEng Engineering (with Year Abroad) program at UEA offers a comprehensive and flexible education, designed to develop future engineers who are innovative, socially aware, and globally engaged. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in core engineering principles—mechanical, electrical, and energy systems—while developing creative problem-solving skills. A focus on sustainability and real-world challenges encourages students to consider how engineering can positively impact communities worldwide.In the second year, students further advance their mathematical and analytical abilities and engage in hands-on projects that integrate multiple disciplines. This includes practical work in electronics and materials, as well as a design project that tests their growing ability to devise innovative solutions. High-performing students can transfer to the integrated MEng program, while all students are supported to prepare for industry placement or further international experience.The third year is spent abroad at a partner institution, offering a unique opportunity to expand academic horizons and gain international perspectives. This immersive experience helps students develop cultural awareness, adaptability, and a broader understanding of global engineering practices.In the final year, students return to UEA to focus on advanced technical modules and a major individual project. This project, often linked to industry, allows students to apply their skills to real-world problems, defining their career path and reinforcing professional competencies in control systems, automation, and design. This global and multidisciplinary journey equips graduates for a successful engineering career in a rapidly evolving world.
