COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Economics and Finance with International Year One is designed to provide students with a thorough grounding in economic analysis, financial principles, and practical skills. In the first year, students focus on building a strong foundation in microeconomics, macroeconomics, and mathematical techniques, with tailored support for those without a background in mathematics. The curriculum emphasizes the application of economic models to real-world scenarios and introduces students to the basics of statistics and data analysis. Additionally, the year offers modules on business decision-making, financial affairs, and the economics of corporate finance.In the second year, students deepen their understanding of economics through intermediate micro and macroeconomics modules, as well as introductory econometrics, which applies statistical methods to economic questions. A key component of the second year is the corporate finance module, where students explore financial markets, portfolio management, and the theory behind capital structure. This year also offers students the flexibility to specialize in topics like behavioural economics, global trade, or econometrics.The third year provides students with the opportunity to either gain practical experience through a work placement or study abroad, further enhancing their global perspective and employability. Finally, in the fourth year, students can choose from a wide range of specialized modules, including financial risk management, behavioural finance, and financial markets. They also have the option to complete a dissertation or a consulting project, allowing them to apply their knowledge to real-world issues. With a focus on both theory and practical application, this program prepares students for successful careers in economics and finance.
