COURSE CURRICULUM

The Actuarial Science degree is designed to provide students with a robust understanding of mathematics, computing, economics, and business across four years. In the first year, you will lay the foundation with core subjects such as calculus, financial mathematics, introductory programming, probability, and economics, with the option to specialize in data science or traditional actuarial science. The emphasis is on developing mathematical, computational, and problem-solving skills, essential for actuarial work. You will also be introduced to actuarial mathematics and practical modeling skills. Optional modules in the first year allow you to further your understanding through skills-based learning, either with practicing actuaries or additional computing courses.The second year expands on these fundamentals, focusing on specific actuarial topics like differential equations, mathematical statistics, and actuarial financial mathematics. You will deepen your understanding of linear algebra, probability, and modeling techniques for life assurance contracts. Students can choose between modules such as financial accounting or advanced computing, tailoring their studies according to their interests.In the third year, you will have the chance to study abroad, allowing you to expand your knowledge in a variety of disciplines beyond the actuarial field. This year is an opportunity for students to gain exposure to international academic environments and to pursue diverse subjects, from mathematics to business and computing.The final year sharpens your expertise in advanced actuarial methods, including stochastic processes, survival models, and further contingencies. You will be introduced to machine learning and Bayesian statistics, key for modern actuarial practice. Students also have the option to complete a dissertation or pursue a module with practicing actuaries, enhancing their professional experience. By the end of the degree, you will be well-equipped for a successful career in actuarial science, data science, or finance.
