COURSE CURRICULUM

In your first year, you’ll study a 120-credit module that establishes a solid foundation in psychological theory and research, focusing on its real-world applications. Teaching sessions are organized around themes like behavior, social interaction, and self-understanding. You'll also be introduced to research methods and begin developing a critical perspective on psychological theories.In your second year, you'll continue with compulsory modules that deepen your understanding of various psychology branches. These include Cognitive and Biological Psychology, which explores cognitive processes and neurobiology, and Social and Developmental Psychology, which covers topics such as social perception and cognitive development in different stages of life. You'll also study Psychology in Context, which provides a historical and philosophical understanding of psychology, and Experimental Psychological Analysis and Assessing and Analyzing Individual Differences, which build on quantitative research methods. Additionally, the Psychology in the Workplace module prepares you for your placement year by focusing on professional skills and workplace psychology.In your third year, you’ll gain practical experience through a work placement or internship, applying your academic knowledge in a professional environment.In your final year, you’ll complete a substantial Research Project, where you’ll design and conduct independent research under the guidance of a supervisor. You’ll also take the Social Perception and Behaviour module, which explores social psychology and human behavior from individual to group levels, helping you critically assess key theories in social psychology. Additionally, you'll select optional modules to deepen your specialization in various psychology areas or take an integrative, cross-disciplinary approach.
