The four-year Microbiology degree program offers a robust structure to develop essential knowledge and skills for careers in microbiology and related fields. In the first year, students are introduced to core concepts in microbiology, covering biochemistry, cell biology, and the physiology of microorganisms, as well as their roles in human disease and environmental sustainability. Modules like "Molecular Biology and Genetics," "Diversity of Life," and "Concepts in Microbiology" provide a strong foundation, while "Professional Skills for Biosciences" ensures students develop crucial abilities such as data analysis, teamwork, and scientific communication.The second year deepens understanding of microbiology with a focus on medical, environmental, and biotechnological applications. Modules such as "Molecular Biology," "Medical Microbiology," and "Environmental Microbiology" introduce advanced topics like bioinformatics, microbial genetics, and clinical microbiology. Professional skills are further developed with workshops on research techniques, data visualization, and experimental design, preparing students for future research or professional roles.In the third year, students gain practical experience through a work placement, enabling them to apply their academic learning in a professional context.
