COURSE CURRICULUM

The Occupational Therapy degree is a rigorous three-year program designed to prepare students for professional practice as occupational therapists. In the first year, students focus on the foundational aspects of occupational therapy (OT), including human sciences such as anatomy, physiology, psychology, and sociology. They are introduced to OT theory, occupational science, and basic group-work skills, while engaging in two practice placements to connect theory with practice. This year emphasizes the development of core skills and lays the groundwork for professional practice through both academic and practical learning experiences.The second year expands on the foundations built in the first year, with a deeper exploration of health conditions and their relation to OT practice. Students apply their knowledge to clinical reasoning, engage in more advanced placements, and begin to develop leadership skills while working in interdisciplinary teams. Research skills continue to be honed, allowing students to evaluate evidence-based practice effectively.In the final year, students transition to a more independent role, specializing in areas of practice through elective placements. They engage in critical thinking and complex clinical decision-making, while continuing to develop their professional identity. The final year also focuses on leadership, interprofessional collaboration, and preparing students for their careers post-graduation. With continued emphasis on evidence-based practice, legal and ethical considerations, and personal development, the program ensures that graduates are ready to make a positive impact in various OT settings and meet the evolving needs of healthcare services.
