COURSE CURRICULUM

The three-year Biological Sciences degree program offers a robust curriculum, designed to build a strong foundation in biology and allow for specialization. In the first year, students are introduced to core biological concepts such as molecular biology, genetics, and cell biology, while receiving training in essential scientific methods and techniques. Modules such as Diversity of Life and Evolution, Behaviour and Ecology provide a thorough understanding of biodiversity, evolutionary processes, and ecological relationships, fostering a well-rounded view of life sciences. Practical experience through workshops, laboratory classes, and field trips further enhances students' learning.In the second year, the program offers students a chance to specialize by taking core modules in Molecular Biology and Genetics, and selecting from a range of optional modules, including biochemistry, microbiology, cell biology, and evolutionary biology. This flexibility allows students to tailor their studies to their specific interests, deepening their understanding of the areas they wish to pursue.The final year emphasizes advanced topics, with a compulsory Bioinformatics and Genomics module that explores the analysis of genomes and gene expression.
