COURSE CURRICULUM

This three-year Environmental Science and Geography course offers students a comprehensive understanding of global environmental issues while developing practical skills in research, data analysis, and fieldwork. The first year lays the foundation with compulsory modules that explore key topics such as climate change, sustainability, biodiversity, and Earth systems. Students are introduced to essential research techniques and data collection methods through a combination of lectures, workshops, and hands-on experiences. These foundational modules help students build academic skills and encourage critical thinking about environmental challenges.In the second year, students begin to specialize by choosing from a variety of modules, including geomorphology, geophysics, and environmental assessment, allowing them to tailor their studies to their interests. Advanced research skills are further developed, and students gain practical experience through field courses and project-based learning. The Earth’s Critical Zone module, for example, examines how land, water, air, and organisms interact, highlighting the importance of understanding these processes in the context of environmental change.The third year is centered around an independent research project, where students apply their knowledge to explore a specific area of interest in-depth. This project, along with optional modules such as paleoclimatology and geophysical hazards, enables students to synthesize their learning and demonstrate their expertise. By the end of the course, students are well-equipped with the technical, analytical, and communication skills needed for a successful career in environmental science or geography, or for further academic study.
