COURSE CURRICULUM

The first year of the Economics program is designed to build a strong foundation in both microeconomics and macroeconomics. You’ll begin by exploring how individuals and firms make economic decisions, and learn about the impact of government policies on the economy. The year emphasizes the use of mathematical and statistical methods, equipping you with essential tools for economic modeling and analysis. If you don’t have an A-level in mathematics, an introductory module will help you gain the necessary mathematical skills. You’ll also begin applying economic principles to real-world situations, and gain insight into how behavioral economics deepens our understanding of consumer, worker, and manager decision-making. In addition to core modules in microeconomics, macroeconomics, and statistics, you will also explore current economic affairs, business decision-making, and gain hands-on experience with Excel for data analysis. These foundational courses prepare you for more advanced study in your second and third years, where you will explore more specialized topics, including econometrics, programming for data analytics, and global trade. The year provides a balanced approach to both theory and practical application, ensuring you develop a well-rounded understanding of economics.
