COURSE CURRICULUM

In your first year, you will lay a strong foundation for your understanding of psychological theory and research. The core module, "Introduction to Psychology," introduces key themes like behavior, social interaction, and applying psychology in real-world contexts. You will explore topics like explaining human behavior and understanding yourself, while also developing essential research skills. Along with learning about quantitative and qualitative research methods, you will gain insights into how psychological theory is appliedpractically.Inn the second year, you will deepen your knowledge of different branches of psychology through compulsory modules like "Social and Developmental Psychology" and "Cognitive and Biological Psychology." These modules focus on areas such as social influence, cognitive processes like memory and perception, and the biological foundations of behavior. You will also enhance your research skills, particularly in qualitative and quantitative methods, through modules like "Experimental Psychological Analysis" and "Assessing and Analyzing Individual Differences." Additionally, the opportunity to take optional modules allows you to explore areas outside of psychology, such as creative writing or business, that complement your studies.The third year is dedicated to a work-based placement, where you will gain practical experience and apply your learning in real-world settings. This year helps you to refine your professional skills while continuing to build on your psychological knowledge.In your final year, you will complete a substantial research project under the guidance of a developmental supervisor. This project will allow you to apply your research skills in designing and conducting an empirical study. You will also engage with advanced topics in developmental science, exploring how cognitive functions like language and memory develop in children, and gain hands-on experience with research tools in this field.
