COURSE CURRICULUM
The structure of the computer systems engineering program is designed to provide a comprehensive foundation in both the theoretical and practical aspects of computing science. In the first year, the focus is on core programming concepts and mathematical modules that are essential for future work in the field. In the second year, students dive deeper into computing science, focusing on both software and hardware components. Modules like Architectures and Operating Systems give insight into the relationship between system software and hardware, while Analogue and Digital Electronics provides practical knowledge of electronic components and circuit design. The Data Structures and Algorithms module helps students design and implement efficient algorithms and data structures, which are crucial for high-performance computing. Programming continues to be a major theme with Programming 2, where students learn C, C++, and advanced Java programming, deepening their understanding of programming concepts and preparing them for industry use. Networks and Embedded Systems further broaden students’ technical skills, exploring network design and the development of software for embedded devices. In the final year, students undertake an independent Computing Project, which allows them to specialize in an area of their choosing.
