COURSE CURRICULUM

The three-year Actuarial Science degree provides a comprehensive foundation in mathematics, computing, economics, and business, tailored to prepare students for careers in actuarial science or data science. In the first year, students build essential skills in financial mathematics, programming, calculus, and probability, laying the groundwork for more specialized actuarial concepts in later years. The focus is on developing a strong understanding of the core mathematical principles necessary for problem-solving, with options to either deepen actuarial knowledge or explore additional computing skills. Year two delves into more advanced topics like differential equations, mathematical statistics, and actuarial financial mathematics, while offering students the opportunity to further explore statistical modeling and life assurance cash flows. In addition, students are introduced to more complex actuarial concepts like linear regression models and contingency modeling. By the third year, students have the chance to specialize further by studying stochastic processes and time series analysis, gaining a deeper understanding of how these concepts apply to actuarial models and forecasting. The final year also offers the flexibility to undertake a dissertation or a project in partnership with practicing actuaries, allowing students to apply their knowledge in a practical setting. This degree program aims to equip graduates with the skills necessary for success in actuarial roles or other related professions, combining theoretical understanding with practical application in fields such as insurance, finance, and data science.
