COURSE CURRICULUM

This four-year degree in International Relations and History offers students a comprehensive, multidisciplinary education that builds from foundational knowledge to specialized study and real-world experience. In the first year, students are introduced to the key themes, theories, and global questions that have shaped both historical and political discourse. They explore the evolution of the international system, the causes of war and political instability, and how historical events have contributed to the structure of today’s global politics. Modules like "Power, (Dis)Order & Security" and "The Age of Extremes" encourage students to critically examine international relations and history as interconnected fields. By the second year, the course becomes more analytical, offering deeper engagement with political theories ranging from realism to postcolonialism, and hands-on training in data analysis, equipping students with research methods applicable across both qualitative and quantitative fields. Year three stands out as a unique opportunity to study abroad, allowing students to experience a different cultural and academic environment, expand their global awareness, and develop personal and professional skills that will serve them long after graduation. Finally, in the fourth year, students apply all they’ve learned through independent research projects or group work, culminating in a dissertation or a collaborative project. They also receive support in building their careers through internships, placements, and career-focused events. Altogether, the program not only provides academic depth in both history and international relations but also fosters critical thinking, cross-cultural understanding, research proficiency, and employability.
