COURSE CURRICULUM

The Film and English Literature course offers a structured, progressive journey through four years, beginning with foundational knowledge and culminating in specialised expertise and independent research. In the first year, students are introduced to key debates and analytical skills in both film studies and English literature. Core modules explore global film history, literary traditions, film analysis, world cinema, language evolution, and in-depth literary engagement. These provide the groundwork for critical thinking and research. The second year allows for deeper theoretical exploration, particularly through the study of key concepts in film theory and the process of adaptation across media. Students can choose optional modules that align with their personal interests—ranging from queer literature and American literature on screen to journalism and creative writing—while also having the opportunity to undertake work placements in media-related industries. The third year is spent studying abroad, offering students international exposure and a fresh academic perspective. This experience is designed to develop their global outlook, communication skills, and confidence, making them more attractive to future employers. In the final year, students further specialise in topics of their choice, guided by world-class academics.
