COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year of the BA Education degree, I began by establishing a strong foundation in the key concepts and theories surrounding education. The modules were designed to provide an introduction to various disciplines that influence education, such as psychology, sociology, history, and philosophy. For instance, in Studying in Higher Education: (Re)constructing Learner Identities, I developed essential academic skills such as research, analysis, and effective communication, all crucial for my growth as an educator. This module also emphasized the importance of lifelong learning, helping me to develop a reflective approach towards my own educational journey.In Educational Theory and Practice, I explored the theoretical frameworks that underpin educational practice. I learned about key theorists in sociology and psychology and how their ideas can be applied to understand children's learning and the social context of education. This module helped me connect theory to real-world practice, making me reflect on how different educational systems operate. Meanwhile, Global Education opened my eyes to the diverse educational practices around the world. It provided a comparative look at pedagogies and helped me understand the role of culture, politics, and socio-economic factors in shaping education.Another interesting aspect of the first year was Digital Learning and Society, which focused on how technology is transforming education. I examined the role of digital tools in learning, the impact of gamification in the classroom, and the challenges of misinformation in the digital age. This module allowed me to critically consider the intersection of technology, society, and education and how digital advancements are changing the way we learn.Moving into the second year, I started exploring research methods and gaining practical experience. In the Research and Learning from Experience module, I was introduced to educational research methods, learning how to design and conduct studies, analyze data, and address ethical issues. This module also encouraged me to engage in practical learning through 40 hours of recorded experience, allowing me to see how educational theory translates into practice in real-world settings.The third year, spent abroad, will further expand my perspective by exposing me to educational systems in different cultural and societal contexts. It will provide a broader global view of education, enhancing my understanding of how education works in varied environments.Finally, in the fourth year, I will specialize further, focusing on advanced topics such as motivation, creativity, and the intersection of media and education. The Dissertation module will provide an opportunity for independent research, allowing me to contribute original knowledge to the field of education, while refining my research and analytical skills.
