COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA Liberal Arts with a Placement Year at UEA offers a unique and flexible educational experience, combining academic study with real-world professional experience. Throughout the course, students are encouraged to explore a wide range of disciplines, applying different theoretical perspectives and methods to understand contemporary global challenges. In the first year, students are introduced to interdisciplinary study, with core modules that focus on developing skills for approaching complex issues from various disciplinary angles. As students progress to their second year, they deepen their understanding of their major and minor subjects while continuing to engage with interdisciplinary approaches. A key aspect of the second year is the opportunity to tackle real-world problems through collaborative projects, which help develop critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving abilities. The third year offers a valuable opportunity for students to gain practical experience through a work placement, either with a company, charity, or another organization. This placement allows students to apply their academic learning in a professional environment, developing essential skills that enhance their employability. In the final year, students return to UEA to complete a significant research project, applying everything they have learned to a topic of their choice. The capstone project is an essential part of the degree, allowing students to demonstrate their research abilities and interdisciplinary skills in a final, independent project. Overall, the program provides students with the knowledge, skills, and experience to stand out in the job market and pursue diverse career paths.
