COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year of the Languages and Intercultural Communication with Business course, students are introduced to key themes in language, culture, business, and communication through a blend of compulsory and optional modules. These modules include topics such as translation theory, sociolinguistics, cultural theory, and intercultural communication, alongside language-specific training in French, Spanish, or Japanese depending on the student’s chosen path. The business aspect is introduced through the Understanding the Business Environment module, which explores organizational structures, sustainability, internationalization, and essential business theory. In the second year, students begin to specialize, deepening their linguistic proficiency while also engaging with advanced topics such as translation, media, and subtitling, as well as business subjects like marketing or management. This stage further prepares students for their third year abroad, which is a vital and immersive part of the program. During the year abroad, students either study or work in a country where their chosen language is spoken, enhancing both their cultural and linguistic understanding through real-world experience. In the final year, students refine their language skills to a professional level and have the opportunity to apply them in specialized business contexts such as marketing, ethics, and leadership. They may also choose to undertake a dissertation or complete project-based work. By the end of the course, students are expected to be highly proficient in at least one foreign language, culturally competent, and equipped with both academic and professional skills relevant to international careers.
