COURSE CURRICULUM

The accelerated two-year Adult Nursing programme is delivered across two academic years with practice learning assessed in three equal parts to ensure students achieve the professional standards required for registration as a nurse. As an intensive full-time course, it requires a high level of commitment, motivation and independent learning, while meeting the theory and practice hours specified by the Nursing and Midwifery Council. Throughout the programme, students undertake a range of modules designed to develop the essential knowledge, skills and professional values needed to provide safe, effective and compassionate nursing care that prioritises the needs and wellbeing of patients and service users. In Stage One, the Professional Nursing Practice module introduces students to the core principles, responsibilities and ethical foundations of nursing, helping them develop the professionalism and clinical competence required for contemporary healthcare environments. The Evidence Based Nursing Practice module focuses on developing critical thinking and research appraisal skills, enabling students to apply the best available evidence to support clinical decision-making and improve patient outcomes. Students also complete the Complex Care in Nursing Practice module, which develops their ability to assess, plan and deliver care for individuals with acute, chronic and complex healthcare needs across a range of settings. In Stage Two, students build upon these foundations through Leadership for Nursing Practice (Adult), which develops leadership, management and decision-making skills required for coordinating care and supporting healthcare teams. The Innovation and Improvement in Nursing Practice (Adult) module explores service development, quality improvement and innovative approaches to healthcare delivery, preparing students to contribute to positive changes in practice. The programme concludes with Transition to Autonomous Practice (Adult), which supports students in developing the confidence, independence and professional judgement required to move successfully into registered nursing roles and provide high-quality patient-centred care across diverse healthcare environments.
