COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc International Business includes Independent Study: Research Methods (20 credits) and an Independent Dissertation (40 credits), enabling students to develop advanced research, analytical, and critical thinking skills by investigating a specialist topic in international business. Delivered at the Kedleston Road Campus, the programme provides access to modern learning facilities, including the University's largest library, extensive online journals, study spaces, healthcare simulation facilities, and a state-of-the-art Sports Centre. Teaching combines campus-based learning with online study resources to create a flexible and engaging learning experience. Students benefit from a variety of teaching methods, including lectures, workshops, seminars, group discussions, case studies, practical business analysis, collaborative projects, and professional networking activities, all supported by academic guidance and personal development opportunities throughout the programme. Assessment is primarily coursework-based and designed to strengthen both academic knowledge and professional skills. Students complete a range of assessments such as international business analysis reports, strategic business documents, essays, computer-based assignments, presentations, videos, portfolios, Bloomberg-based evaluations of international markets and organisations, and reflective practice exercises, with opportunities to work individually and collaboratively in teams. Some optional modules may also include formal examinations. This practical, research-focused approach equips graduates with advanced strategic, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities, preparing them for careers in multinational corporations, international consultancy, global trade, finance, business development, government organisations, and international enterprises, while also providing a strong foundation for further academic research or senior leadership roles in the global business environment.
