COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Project Collaboration includes an Independent Scholarship (Built Environment) module, enabling students to undertake an in-depth investigation into a specialist topic related to Building Information Modelling, digital construction, or the wider built environment. Through independent research, students develop advanced analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills while applying theoretical knowledge to contemporary industry challenges. The programme focuses on the theory and practical application of Building Information Modelling (BIM), preparing students to use the industry-standard approach for the design, procurement, delivery, and lifecycle management of buildings. Learning is delivered through realistic project collaboration simulation scenarios that closely replicate professional construction environments, allowing students to gain practical experience of multidisciplinary teamwork and digital project delivery. Assessment is varied and industry-focused, incorporating coursework, collaborative live projects, individual assignments, exhibitions, graphic presentations, and oral presentations to develop both technical expertise and professional communication skills. Students also have the opportunity to achieve Autodesk Certification by successfully completing the required certification examination, further enhancing their technical credentials and employability within the global construction and built environment sector. The university regularly reviews and updates module content to ensure the curriculum remains aligned with evolving industry standards, technological advancements, and graduate employment needs.
