COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLM in Legal Practice (SQE) programme includes a comprehensive range of modules designed to develop the legal knowledge, practical abilities, and professional skills required for success in modern legal practice. Legal Practice 1 introduces students to essential areas of law, including Business Law and Practice, Dispute Resolution, Tort, Contract, Legal Systems in England and Wales, Administrative and Constitutional Law, EU Law, and Legal Services, providing a strong foundation in key legal principles and professional applications. Legal Practice 2 builds on this knowledge by exploring specialist areas such as Property Practice, Wills and Administration of Estates, Solicitor Accounts, Land Law, Trusts, and Criminal Law and Practice, helping students understand the practical application of legal rules in different client scenarios. The Professional Legal Skills modules focus on developing essential skills required by legal professionals, including advocacy, interviewing, preparing attendance notes, legal analysis, case and matter management, legal research, legal writing, and legal drafting. These modules enable students to develop effective communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills while preparing them for professional legal environments and SQE assessments. The Independent Studies for Legal Practice module provides students with the opportunity to further develop as legal practitioners by conducting focused research into a specialist area of law and demonstrating a critical understanding of contemporary legal practice. Through this independent project, students strengthen their ability to evaluate legal issues, analyse complex information, and apply legal knowledge to professional challenges. Overall, the programme combines academic legal study, practical skills training, and independent research to prepare graduates for the demands of professional legal practice, enhancing their readiness for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination and future careers within the legal sector.
