COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLB curriculum provides a comprehensive legal education that combines core legal knowledge, practical training, and opportunities to specialise in areas of personal interest. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through modules such as Constitutional Law and Civil Liberties, Contract Law Theory and Practice, Legal Skills and Practice, Administrative Law and Human Rights, and Tort Law. These subjects introduce the principles of the UK legal system while developing essential skills in legal research, drafting, advocacy, problem-solving, and professional communication. The Administrative Law and Human Rights module focuses on judicial review, public law, and the UK human rights framework, using case law and practical exercises to prepare students for legal practice and public sector careers. In the second year, students expand their legal expertise through modules including Land Law, Criminal Law, Criminal Practice and Property Offences, European Union Law and its International Context, Law and Business in Context, and Equity and Trusts. These modules explore property ownership, criminal justice, business law, trusts, and the legal impact of domestic and international regulations, while strengthening analytical and practical legal skills. In the final year, students study the core module Commercial Awareness and Business Acumen, which develops entrepreneurial thinking, business management, and an understanding of how legal services operate in a changing commercial environment. They can also tailor their studies by choosing from a wide range of optional modules, including Company Law, Intellectual Property Law, International Business Law, Employment Law, Family Law, Evidence, Medical Law and Ethics, Human Rights in a Global World, Domestic Abuse, Commercial and Consumer Law, Sustainable Development and International Business Law, International Law and World Affairs, and The Older Client. This balanced curriculum equips graduates with strong legal knowledge, commercial awareness, practical experience, and transferable skills, preparing them for careers as solicitors, barristers, legal advisers, corporate professionals, public sector practitioners, policymakers, and other roles across the legal and business sectors.
