COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLB curriculum provides a strong blend of legal theory, practical training, and specialist study to prepare students for careers across the legal and criminal justice sectors. In the first year, students establish a solid foundation through core modules including Constitutional Law and Civil Liberties, Contract Law Theory and Practice, Legal Skills and Practice, Administrative Law and Human Rights, and Tort Law. These modules introduce key principles of the legal system while developing essential skills in legal research, drafting, advocacy, interviewing, negotiation, and case analysis. The Administrative Law and Human Rights module focuses on judicial review, public law, and the UK human rights framework, using practical exercises and case law to strengthen students’ understanding of how courts oversee public authorities. In the second year, students build on this knowledge through modules such as Land Law, Criminal Law Principles and Application, Criminal Practice and Property Offences, European Union Law and its International Context, Law and Business in Context, and Equity and Trusts. These subjects develop expertise in property law, criminal justice, trusts, business law, and the legal relationship between domestic and international legal systems. In the final year, the core module Commercial Awareness and Business Acumen equips students with entrepreneurial skills, commercial understanding, and knowledge of how law firms and businesses adapt to changing markets and legal services. Students can further personalise their studies through a broad selection of optional modules, including Cybercrime, Youth Justice, Sexual Violence, Exploitation and Abuse, Working with Young Offenders, Murder: Dynamics, Pathologies and Investigation, Commercial and Consumer Law, Company Law, Employment Law, Family Law and Practice, Evidence, Intellectual Property Law, Sustainable Development and International Business Law, Medical Law and Ethics, Domestic Abuse, Miscarriages of Justice, Clinical Legal Skills, Human Rights in a Global World, International Law and World Affairs, The Older Client, and Independent Study.
