COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Economics curriculum develops students' knowledge progressively across three years, combining economic theory with practical financial and analytical skills. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through modules in Finance and Business Performance, Academic and Digital Skills for Professionals, Introductory Microeconomics, Introduction to Macroeconomic Concepts and Data, Introductory Quantitative Analysis, and Economic Policy Analysis. These modules introduce financial accounting, business performance evaluation, cost analysis, sources of finance, economic principles, quantitative techniques, and policy analysis. The second year expands this knowledge with Current Debates in Applied Economic Theory, Applied Intermediate Microeconomics, Applied Intermediate Macroeconomics, Data Analysis, Financial Markets and Instruments, and Corporate Finance, enabling students to explore contemporary economic issues, strengthen analytical and data interpretation skills, and understand financial markets and corporate financial decision-making. In the final year, students develop advanced expertise through modules including Investing and Financial Market Behaviour, Financial Risk Management, Econometrics, Corporate Governance, and an Applied Economics Project. These studies focus on investment analysis, investor behaviour, financial regulation, risk management, advanced quantitative methods, corporate governance, and independent economic research, equipping graduates with the practical, analytical, and strategic skills required for careers in economics, finance, banking, investment, consultancy, business, and the public sector.
