COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Artificial Intelligence and Psychology curriculum integrates artificial intelligence, data science, and psychology to develop graduates with expertise in both intelligent systems and human behaviour. In the first year, students study core modules including Logic and Discrete Mathematics, Programming, Ethics and Artificial Intelligence, Digital Skills for Artificial Intelligence, Introduction to Social and Cognitive Psychology, and Introduction to Biological and Developmental Psychology. These modules establish strong foundations in programming, mathematical reasoning, AI ethics, digital technologies, and the scientific study of human behaviour. Students develop essential skills in algebra, logic, discrete mathematics, graphs, networks, matrices, and computational problem-solving while gaining an understanding of cognitive processes, social behaviour, biological influences, and human development. In the second year, students build advanced technical and psychological knowledge through core modules in Data Science and Modelling Fundamentals, Introduction to Machine Learning, Research Methods in Artificial Intelligence, Team Project on Contemporary Issues in AI, Cyberpsychology, and Parapsychology. These modules develop expertise in data modelling, forecasting, visualisation, exploratory data analysis, machine learning, AI research methods, and the psychological effects of digital technologies, while encouraging critical evaluation of human interaction with emerging technologies and unusual psychological phenomena. Team projects provide practical experience in applying AI to interdisciplinary challenges. In the final year, students strengthen their professional and research capabilities through core modules including Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Deep Learning, Individual Project in Applied AI, Psychology in Education, and Clinical Applications of Psychology. Students explore the latest developments in AI, advanced deep learning techniques, industry-standard tools, educational psychology, and clinical psychology while completing an independent AI project that applies technical and psychological knowledge to real-world problems. Throughout the programme, students develop strong analytical, programming, research, communication, and critical thinking skills while learning to evaluate AI systems from both technical and human-centred perspectives. Overall, the curriculum combines mathematics, computing, machine learning, data science, cognitive science, psychology, and applied research to prepare graduates for careers in artificial intelligence, behavioural data analysis, human-computer interaction, user experience research, digital mental health, educational technology, psychological research, healthcare technology, and related interdisciplinary fields, while also providing a strong foundation for postgraduate study and professional development.
