COURSE CURRICULUM
This interdisciplinary degree explores politics, international relations, law and society, equipping students with the knowledge and practical skills to understand and respond to complex global challenges. Throughout the course, students examine major issues such as climate change, human rights, global security, social justice, economic development, governance and international conflict while developing a strong understanding of political systems and legal principles. In the first year, students build a solid foundation through modules including Introduction to World Politics, Theory and Practice of Politics, Constitutional Law and Civil Liberties, Administrative Law and Human Rights, Legal Skills and Practice, and Studying Culture and Society. These modules introduce political theories, global institutions, international relations, constitutional law and research techniques while strengthening analytical, communication and problem-solving skills. In the second year, students expand their expertise through optional modules such as Researching Politics, Theories of International Relations, Environmental Politics, Criminal Law, European Union Law, and Law and Business in Context, gaining practical experience in qualitative research, policy analysis, legal reasoning and political investigation. The final year allows students to specialise in areas of interest through modules including Dissent, Activism and Equity, International Security, Human Rights in a Global World, International Law and World Affairs, Sustainable Development and International Business Law, Commercial and Consumer Law, Family Law, Employment Law, Domestic Abuse and an Independent Study project. Students investigate contemporary topics such as political activism, social movements, democratic participation, climate justice, global inequality, international law and civil liberties while conducting independent research. The programme develops transferable skills in critical thinking, research, policy evaluation, legal analysis, communication, leadership and ethical decision-making. Graduates are well prepared for careers in government, diplomacy, public policy, international organisations, law-related fields, non-governmental organisations, public administration, advocacy, research, journalism and political consultancy, while also providing an excellent foundation for postgraduate study in politics, international relations, law or related social science disciplines.
