COURSE CURRICULUM

This BA (Hons) Event Management programme is structured to develop graduates with both practical event delivery skills and a strong understanding of business, strategy and the wider visitor economy, preparing them for a rapidly changing global events industry. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge through modules such as Understanding People in Organisations, Eventful Societies, Project Design, Planning and Management, Business Environment of the Visitor Economy, Current Scenarios, Future Directions, and Service Experience Co-Creation. These modules introduce key concepts in organisational behaviour, event design, service delivery and visitor economy dynamics, while also developing early project management and analytical skills through applied case studies and planning exercises. In the second year, the focus shifts toward innovation, sustainability and applied business practice, with core modules such as Innovation in Event Technologies, Sustainable Event Operations, Social and Sustainable Enterprise, and Marketing Research, supported by optional areas like data analytics, venue design, financial management, supply chains, and digital marketing. This stage emphasises how events are increasingly shaped by technology, sustainability pressures and data-driven decision-making, preparing students to design events that are both commercially viable and environmentally responsible. In the final year, students engage with more strategic and industry-level challenges through modules such as Global Business and Strategy, Crowd Management, Risk, Security and Safety in Events, Event Tourism and Placemaking, and an Independent Study. These modules focus on large-scale event planning, international business environments, risk management and the role of events in shaping destinations and economies. Across the programme, there is a consistent emphasis on applied learning, industry relevance and transferable skills such as leadership, problem-solving, communication and strategic thinking. Graduates are prepared for careers in event management, tourism, hospitality, marketing and wider business sectors, with the ability to operate in complex, global and technology-driven environments.
