COURSE CURRICULUM

The Business and Law programme provides a multidisciplinary curriculum that combines legal studies, entrepreneurship, and business management to prepare students for careers across the legal, commercial, and public sectors. In the first year, students develop a strong foundation in constitutional law, administrative law, human rights, marketing, entrepreneurship, and legal practice. Through the Constitutional Law and Civil Liberties module, they examine the legal and constitutional framework of England, exploring the historical development of the British constitution, the role of government and law-making institutions, the influence of international law and human rights, and the protection of civil liberties while developing essential legal research, analysis, and academic writing skills. Business modules strengthen students’ understanding of marketing, finance, and enterprise, enabling them to appreciate the commercial context in which legal decisions are made. In the second year, students study Social and Sustainable Enterprise and Innovation and Implementation, exploring how entrepreneurship, sustainability, and social enterprise contribute to economic growth, social justice, and the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They examine sustainable business models, social entrepreneurship, and responsible innovation while developing practical business and leadership skills. Optional law modules allow students to specialise in areas such as criminal law, criminal practice, business law, European Union law, sustainability, and performance management. In the final year, students further develop entrepreneurial capabilities through core modules in Freelancing Skills and Working for Yourself and Developing a Global Enterprise, learning how to establish businesses, work independently, develop innovative services, and manage enterprises within legal and commercial frameworks. A wide selection of optional modules enables specialisation in commercial law, company law, employment law, intellectual property, family law, evidence, international law, comparative law, sustainable development and international business law, human rights, leadership, and global business strategy. Throughout the programme, students build strong legal reasoning, analytical, research, communication, negotiation, leadership, and problem-solving skills while applying legal knowledge to real business challenges. By integrating law, business management, and entrepreneurship, the course prepares graduates for careers in legal services, compliance, business consultancy, public administration, corporate governance, human resources, entrepreneurship, regulatory organisations, and a wide range of commercial and professional roles in both the public and private sectors.
