COURSE CURRICULUM

The Business and Human Resource Management programme provides a comprehensive curriculum that combines entrepreneurship, business management, and human resource management to prepare students for careers in people management, leadership, and enterprise. In the first year, students build a strong foundation by studying organisational behaviour, marketing, business economics, finance, entrepreneurship, and advertising. Through the Understanding People in Organisations module, they examine how individual, group, and organisational factors influence workplace behaviour while learning to apply organisational behaviour theories to analyse business challenges and develop effective management solutions. Modules in marketing, economics, finance, and enterprise strengthen commercial awareness, analytical thinking, financial decision-making, and entrepreneurial skills. In the second year, students focus on specialist human resource management topics through core modules including People Resourcing and Talent Planning, Employee Development, Social and Sustainable Enterprise, and Innovation and Implementation. They learn how organisations attract, recruit, develop, retain, and manage employees within the UK legal framework while exploring workforce planning, talent management, employee learning, sustainable business practices, innovation, and organisational development. Optional modules in sustainability, performance management, and operations management allow students to broaden their understanding of responsible leadership and business performance. In the final year, students develop practical entrepreneurial and leadership capabilities through core modules such as Freelancing Skills and Working for Yourself and Developing a Global Enterprise. They learn how to establish and manage their own businesses, work as freelancers, create innovative products or services, and apply entrepreneurial thinking in organisations. Optional modules including Global Business and Strategy, Comparative International Human Resource Management, Developing Leadership and Management, and Independent Study enable students to tailor their learning to their career aspirations. Throughout the programme, students strengthen their leadership, communication, problem-solving, strategic planning, decision-making, recruitment, talent management, and business development skills while applying theory to real-world business situations. By integrating business management, entrepreneurship, and human resource management, the course prepares graduates for careers in human resources, recruitment, talent management, learning and development, business consultancy, entrepreneurship, organisational leadership, business development, and management roles across a wide range of industries.
