COURSE CURRICULUM

The Business Management and Economics programme provides a balanced curriculum that develops students’ expertise in business management, applied economics, data analysis, and strategic decision-making across three years of study. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in business and economics by studying organisational behaviour, finance, marketing, microeconomics, macroeconomics, and quantitative analysis. They develop an understanding of how organisations operate, how markets function, and how economic conditions influence business decisions while strengthening their analytical, numerical, communication, and problem-solving skills. Through the Understanding People in Organisations module, students explore organisational behaviour theories and learn to analyse workplace challenges using real business case studies. In the second year, students strengthen their analytical and practical business skills through core modules in data analysis, applied intermediate macroeconomics, applied operations management, and sustainability and responsible management. They learn to use Microsoft Excel for economic and business analysis, collect and interpret real-world data, apply statistical techniques, and communicate analytical findings effectively. Students also explore ethical leadership, corporate governance, stakeholder engagement, climate change, global social responsibility, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). A wide range of optional modules enables them to specialise in areas such as microeconomics, public sector economics, financial management, human resource management, digital media, enterprise, project strategy, and information technology. In the final year, students further tailor their degree through specialist optional modules covering international business economics, financial risk management, economics of sustainable business growth, investing and financial market behaviour, international banking, international entrepreneurship, marketing across cultures, global business strategy, leadership, financial statement analysis, and international purchasing and supply chain management. These modules develop expertise in global markets, financial systems, sustainable economic growth, strategic management, and international business operations while strengthening research, critical thinking, data interpretation, leadership, and decision-making skills. Throughout the programme, students gain the ability to apply economic theory to practical business challenges, analyse complex organisational issues, and evaluate strategic solutions. By integrating business management with applied economics and practical analytical skills, the course prepares graduates for careers in economics, business analysis, finance, consultancy, banking, market research, public policy, international business, and management roles across public, private, and multinational organisations.
