COURSE CURRICULUM

The Business Management and Criminology programme offers a balanced curriculum that develops expertise in business management, criminology, leadership, and strategic decision-making across three years of study. In the first year, students build a strong foundation by studying organisational behaviour, finance and business performance, the criminal justice system, and criminological theory, with opportunities to choose optional modules such as marketing or criminological research. They gain an understanding of how organisations operate, how employee behaviour influences workplace performance, and how criminal justice systems function, while developing analytical, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. In the second year, students deepen their knowledge of responsible business management and criminological research through core modules in sustainability and responsible management, applied operations management, social research methods, and real-world criminology. They explore ethical leadership, corporate governance, stakeholder engagement, climate change, global social responsibility, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while strengthening their understanding of criminological research and practical criminal justice issues. A wide range of optional modules allows students to tailor their studies in areas such as logistics and supply chain management, enterprise, finance, digital media, human resource management, forensic psychology, policing, victimology, penology, and project management. In the final year, students develop advanced strategic management and leadership skills through core modules in global business and strategy and leadership development, alongside specialist criminology options including cybercrime, youth justice, green criminology, domestic abuse, criminal intelligence analysis, international criminology, psychopathy, substance misuse, investigating crime, offender rehabilitation, and independent research. Students examine international trade, global economic trends, corporate governance, and strategic management while developing expertise in contemporary criminological issues and evidence-based practice. Throughout the programme, students strengthen their research, critical thinking, leadership, communication, analytical, and decision-making skills while learning to apply business and criminological knowledge to complex organisational and societal challenges. By integrating business management with criminology, criminal justice, sustainability, and strategic leadership, the course prepares graduates for careers in business management, criminal justice, policing, probation, community safety, compliance, consultancy, public administration, security, and leadership roles across public, private, and voluntary sector organisations.
