COURSE CURRICULUM

In Year 1, students complete six modules designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of tourism and hospitality management from both academic and practical perspectives. Each module includes 30 structured teaching hours supported by 170 hours of independent guided study, encouraging the development of strong analytical, research, and reflective skills. Core modules include Marketing Research Methods, which builds essential research and data analysis skills, and Customer Experiences in Tourism and Hospitality, focusing on service quality, customer satisfaction, and experience design. Smart Tourism and Digital Transformation explores the impact of digital technologies and innovation on the tourism and hospitality sector, while Tourism and Hospitality Operations Management develops knowledge of efficient service delivery, resource management, and operational planning. Critical Perspectives on Sustainability examines ethical, environmental, and social responsibilities within global tourism, and International Marketing Strategy develops strategic thinking in promoting tourism and hospitality organisations in international markets. Students must choose either the Research Project, which involves completing a dissertation through eight structured hours and extensive independent study, or the Learning Through Professional Practice module, which provides a workplace learning experience supported by structured teaching, placement hours, and guided study. If a placement or project year is chosen, the Research Dissertation module is replaced by a placement or project module.
